Job purpose<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Core IP-Senior Network Engineer is responsible for planning and implementing IP connectivity solutions using a wide range of networking products including Cisco router and switches, Mikrotik routers as well as firewall devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Duties and responsibilities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Strategic Insight and Integration<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Assist the Head, IP Core Network to achieve the corporate objectives.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Attend project & departmental meetings.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Provide inputs to the departmental annual budget.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Provide technological innovation to improve routing performance and overall service availability.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Technical \/ Analysis and Problem Solving<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Constant review of core and distribution network design with a view to optimize the network.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Responsible for configuring core and Edge routers for integration of last mile connections across technologies such as VSAT, Microwave Radio, APN and Optic Fiber to deploy various connectivity solution over the MPLS network.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Client bandwidth configuration on PE devices.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Graphing of core nodes integrated on the network.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Provide technical solutions to network issues beyond the 2nd level support.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • IP address planning and management for core, distribution and access Network.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Interpersonal, Relationship Management & Collaboration<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Liaise with 3rd<\/sup> party vendors to deliver projects<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Partner with Service Deployment and presales technical officer to provide solutions to clients.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Communication<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Escalate service impacting issues outside span of control to the IP specialist.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Deliver weekly and monthly reports on the status of the network.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Generate and submit periodic project and operational reports to the COO for informed decision making.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • Monitor the core network to provide 99% service availability.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Recommend cost-saving initiatives to the IP specialist.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Education & Work Experience<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                \n
              • Bachelor’s degree\/HND in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Electronics Engineering or related field.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Minimum of 6 years work experience in a relevant role.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Network experience in an ISP environment or a Systems Integration company with specialization in enterprise and service provider routing and switching solutions.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Affiliation with relevant professional bodies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Competency& Certifications<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  \n
                • CCNA, CCNP, MTCRE, AWS, PMP<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Advanced knowledge of AWS, Azure, Cisco ASA software, the Domain Name System (DNS), Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), firewalls, and wide area networks (WANs), SD-WAN, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS L2VPN, L3VPN, EIGRP.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Hands-on experience in OSPF and BGP routing protocols.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Practical experience in deploying MPLS L2VPN and L3VPN solutions for clients.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Relationship & People Management.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    • Resolution of escalated incidents within 7hrs of escalation.<\/span><\/li>\n
                    • Number of new technological initiatives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      • The incumbent may be required to sit in cold (air conditioned) rooms for a long time.<\/span><\/li>\n
